Manufacturing Facilities

Three leading edge manufacturing facilities
united by a common objective: Quality

Landini tractors are produced at three manufacturing facilities located in the province of Reggio Emilia where the keywords are "rationalization" and "integration".
Despite the fact that they specialize in various aspects of production, the three Landini facilities are in fact organized to give maximum efficiency to each manufacturing process with perfect integration between the different stages.

The facility in Fabbrico produces the specialist ranges for vineyard and orchards, the medium-power range with the Ghibli and Vision series and the high-power range with the Legend series.

The site covers an area of 43,000 square meters and is organized in such a way to allow the facility to specialize in mechanical machining, with efficiency and quality the principal aims.

The most complicated components on the tractor are manufactured in Fabbrico, such as for example cast iron parts requiring sophisticated machinery.

The decision to produce the most complicated tractor components internally is confirmation of Landini's commitment to reliability and safety.

From the moment a dealer makes an order, a manufacturing record card is drafted for each tractor to ensure that reliability and safety criteria are met. This record card accompanies the machine throughout the entire assembly process right up to dispatch. The card details production information for that specific tractor including all the features which must be fitted to it by the end of the assembly line, and the tests that have been performed. The card is therefore a further guarantee to ensure that the tractor conforms to the order.

The first step in the production process is undoubtedly the most delicate because it involves setting up the transmission system with the gearbox and cast iron body. Once the system has been assembled it is tested on special test benches. The transmission system is then transferred to the painting department where an environment-friendly robotic system treats the components with a layer of water-based two component polyurethane paint.

Tractor assembly then continues with the fitting of the cabin, covers and all other components, including any accessories. These accessories include the front loading systems manufactured by Landini in Fabbrico.

The automated, distribution centre is located next to the Fabbrico facility. Here the tractors are packaged, stowed in containers and dispatched to the various destinations.

Landini tracked, low-power and compact tractors are manufactured at the modern facility in San Martino in Rio, only a few miles from Fabbrico.

The production centre in San Martino in Rio is characterised by an innovative layout designed to ensure quality.

All activity at this facility is planned with great precision according to a factory model where order and cleanliness go hand in hand with latest generation automation.

The cabin assembly department for example is fitted with a special line. Special carts, containing all the assembly parts prepared in the subunit department, are secured to the line.

This means that during assembly the operator has a cart with all the components to hand. This enables personnel to concentrate on quality without being distracted by the need to find specific components.

This system is also used to handle components destined for assembly thus avoiding the need to transfer material manually.

A common characteristic of the Fabbrico and San Martino in Rio facilities is the attention given to quality.

Landini has given increasing importance
to quality, a very important factor for the product throughout its entire lifecycle, from design to manufacture  to post-sales service.

The company uses two direct total control lines to achieve the quality objectives set.
The first involves purchases and ensures the quality of materials on arrival.
The other is aimed at personnel who are responsible for quality control checks throughout the entire production process.

These mechanisms enable that any problems of nonconformity to be prevented and in the worst case scenario limited to a minimum.  They are also used in conjunction with a quality control plan drafted according to the characteristics of the tractor.

The quality of the final product is also ensured by the production process at the San Martino in Rio 2 facility. It is here that all the gear components required by the Landini group are manufactured. This facility is also used for mechanical machining. The facility was constructed fairly recently and is used to machine cast iron components and guards.

The production technology used to manufacture the gears has also been consolidated.
The main aim is to improve the characteristics of the tractor using advanced mechanical engineering distinguished by features making it as close to the car manufacturing sector as possible. To achieve this result, confirmed also by the large reduction in noise levels caused by mechanical processes, the facility uses latest generation production means.
These include lathes, three-dimensional control machining
centres and equipment, gear grinding machinery and sophisticated finishing systems, all finishing is done by the company on site.
